Earthquake Fault Lines In Ontario Map

Ontario-geofish: Summary of Southern Ontario EarthquakesWell, well, well, what do we have here? A fancy little map showing all the earthquakes in Southern Ontario from 1992-2012? How adorable. I guess Mother Nature decided to spice things up a bit and shake things up in our neck of the woods.

Let's take a closer look at this cute little map, shall we? As you can see, there are clusters of earthquakes in certain areas, like around Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Hmm, I wonder if those pesky Canadians are up to something over there...just kidding, we love our neighbors to the north!

But seriously, it's interesting to see how frequent these earthquakes are. I mean, I always thought of Ontario as a relatively stable place, but I guess Mother Nature likes to keep us on our toes. And by "toes" I mean "shaking in our boots."

What's also interesting is the magnitude of these earthquakes. Most of them seem to be in the 2-3 range, which is relatively mild, but there are a few outliers that reach up to 5.0. Yikes! I can only imagine what it must have felt like to experience one of those bad boys.

As we all know, earthquakes can be a serious matter and cause a lot of damage and injury. However, looking at this map in retrospect, it's kind of funny to see how many earthquakes there were over the span of 20 years. It's almost like Mother Nature was playing a little game of "shake and bake" with us.

Anyway, let's all take a moment to appreciate this cute little map and the fact that we survived all of those earthquakes (hopefully without too much damage). And who knows, maybe Mother Nature will decide to shake things up again in the future. Just make sure to hold on to your hats...and your furniture.
