Florida Time Zones

Well, well, well, look who's ahead of the game - Florida!

That's right folks, Florida is trying to make daylight savings time permanent. Now, I don't know about you, but I'm dang tired of "springing ahead" and "falling back." It's like we can't make up our minds about what time it is.

But Florida is taking action, and I commend them for it. If they succeed, they will be the first state to have permanent daylight savings time.

So, why is Florida doing this? Are Floridians just a bunch of rebels who don't like to follow the rules? Actually, no. The bill to make daylight savings time permanent was proposed by Senator Marco Rubio, who argues that it would be good for the economy and the health of the citizens. He says that it will boost tourism and reduce the risk of car accidents (because people won't be as tired from the time change).

Sounds like a win-win to me. I mean, who doesn't like more tourists and fewer car accidents?

Of course, there are still some hurdles to jump through before this becomes a reality. For one, Congress would have to approve the bill. And even if they do, the Department of Transportation would have to approve it as well.

But hey, I'm all for Florida being the trendsetter here. Maybe other states will follow suit and we can finally say goodbye to daylight savings time for good.

And who knows, maybe Florida will start a trend with other radical ideas. Maybe they'll start a movement to have fun and be happy all the time...wait, that's just called "living in Florida." But you get my point.

So here's to you, Florida. Keep fighting the good fight.
